I am a big fan of exercises that challenge the “cross body connection.” Left and right working in a simultaneous fashion, requiring coordination and involving a great deal of “pillar strength.” This is a fancy total-body movement, and you can make it even fancier by adding a pushup to it! The first five reps are an “easier” variation, while the final five are more challenging…so you have some options!
Think about it - in order to maintain proper body position during this rotational move, the fixed arm, shoulder, and opposite hip and leg must be strong and stable. Obviously, everything between these (aka, the “core”) must be strong!
And no…you don’t have to do these on two picnic tables…I was just gettin’ creative!
