Take up cycling and swimming. A lot of clubs fitness programs include them.
Even doing chores around the house can improve you fitness through constant movement of your muscles. Take your dog for 30 minute walks a day.

Keep lifting, increase your workload slowly and dont give yourself too much at the start.
When you wake up, do pushups/situps/squats/starjumps. Gradually increase amounts.
Lifting weights, and eating the right foods help too.
Plenty of lean meats, vegetables.

In the early 60’s an Olympic running and fitness coach Percy Cerutty, wrote a book called "Be fit or be dammed" he personally autograhed one of these book’s for Tommy Hafey who later won 4 flags at Richmond ‘ 67 ‘69 ‘ 73 ‘ 74, and Tommy later coached Collingwood to 5 grand Finals’s from ‘ 77 to ‘ 82.
Yes this old old, but Cerutty was before his time, but if you read his book you will understand that he actually invented MUSELI. Cerutty trained his athletes on a running circuit around a golf course at Portsea, and up and down sand dunes at the local beach. Two of Cerutty’s most famous Olympic athletes were Herb Elliot and and John Landy. I am a former 200+ game U 18 coach and you can email me for further info if you desire, Three excercise’s before bed or when you wake of a morning will help you, if you are disciplined to do them each day, squats,(legs) sit ups,(torso) and pushup’s( shoulders arm’s chest). 100 per day is 700 a week 2800 a month, you can increase amounts as much as you like, but you can be pretty much assurred anyone you play ‘against’will not have done that extra work on a daily basis.

swimming, cycling and running will help your cardio, which will give you more stamina. The gym isn’t really that useful to be honest, short of weight training to give more muscle (helpful in tackles, bumps and overhead marks)
Run around a footy oval with a footy is about the most practical thing to do imo
