I've also bought a special ops book from stew smith. You should follow the workout.

What smith does is he builds you up gradually. In my case, I was training to become a green beret so I started off following his guide of ruck marching (walking with weights in a backpack) for 4 miles. Over the course of 6 weeks I ended by doing 18 miles with 50 pounds of weight in my backpack.

You might think it's easy now, but later on you'll wish it was easier.
