I am 5'11
weigh 173 lbs
17 yr
I swim (High school Varsity level) mon-fri
for swimming i swim competitively so im training and i do get a good work out in, 1 1/2 hours/ prac
51.1 sec for 100 free (just to get some incite)
once in a while ill run but i hate running, so boring lol
i go to a gym about 4 times a week
^^thats just to get some background information on me
but my dilemma is that im not "cut" or anything, im not huge but i do have quite a bit of excess weight (fat) around my LOWER ab area.(i think its called pear shaped idk) and im trying to slim that area down,
I'm doing my best to eat better, i dont drink soda at all really and cut back on junk food, — im going to start taking that 100% whey protein and see what that does, but basically i wanna look better
anyone see anything i should be doing or change? what types of foods to eat? or any change in work out. or just bulk up and do the hated running lol thanks a bunch - any added information would be amazing THANKS!!!!
Try eating healthier, and foods that "flatten your belly". These foods are : 200 calories or less per serving, or a good source of MUFAs( in oils, nuts, seeds, olives, avocado, dark chocolate) or whole grain. Like some cereals(ex:Amy's Organic Bowls Stell Cut Oats Hot Cereal), pastas(ex:DeBoles Organic Ancient Grain Penne), cheese(ex:Kraft LiveActive Mozzarella Cheese) and there's a lot more, try searching it online or maybe subscribing to Prevention Magazine - (good stuff in there!! all about health!). Go to the gym and tone your muscles, mostly your abs since that is where you want to slim down. Oh and by the way, 51.1 seconds for a 100 free is so good! ( im a swimmer too! )

Its not common knowledge apperantly that, doing the same thing over and over becomes a routine, but, the video is a waste of money considering it just tells you that and gives you some things to try, when you can get creative and do that on your own for free. Lmao, Its a scam to me, in the sense that it points out the obvious to people rather then lets them fall into the trap which in my opinion is; *COUGH* if you watched the infomercial, then you should know what to do. In all honesty, it mugs people of money that could be spent on equipment not phony dvd’s that tell you what you already know.
I know it works, lmao, becuase I’ve seen people use it, but it is unecessary tool to doing the sculpting and changing of the body.
Everyone thats lifted weights for any length of time, with skill, can tell you that your not going to get strong tricepts by only benching and biceps by only playing with dumbbells. Fact of the matter is Px90 pointed out the obvious and most people that didn’t realise that are and may be lessened in the head..
is it a scam?
Yeah I think it is a scam as well. The people in the dvd only had 10-20 lbs to lose or tone up and they had been working out for years before the dvd. Any personal trainer can help you lose such little amount of weight in a week when they already have a person that is “almost” there anyway.

So I am at a generally healthy weight as of right now, and a few people have complimented my weight since I went vegan. I haven't lost much, but enough to be a little noticeable I spose. But basically, I would like to step it up one more notch since my body has felt comfortable at this weight for a while now, and I am looking for that last 5 - 10 lb. push. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get your lower midsection to SHRINK. I know by now through research that no matter how many sit-ups you do, you're only toning the muscle underneath. Well I don't care as much about that. I want the fat part (i.e. the damn tire/muffin top) GONE. I just ordered a bikini the other day and damnit, I know I have the willpower to look smashing if only I had the right methods on how to do it. Again I will remind you that I am not overweight. But I could stand to lose about 5 - 10 lbs. Especially where I WANT to lose it. Is this sort of spot-training even possible? Any and all tips on eating and/or fitness are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Info about me: 22 years old, 5'5", female, and about 142 lbs. (My current workout is Curves, but I have time in my life to do something else not too complicated if needed). Walking? I dunno.
Thanks so much,
Jennifer
P.S. - It would be great if my upper thighs would shrink a bit too…
I would say that you should do aerobics with strenght training. Aerobics will lower your amount of body fat and strength training will tone and strengthen your muscles so when you lose the fat, you will have a nice toned physique underneath.
For the aerobics part: (only do 1 of these 3-6 times a week)
-Go for a 30-40 minute jog/fast walk. Start out at 20 minutes and work your way up to more.
-Do the elyptical at the gym
-High incline walking for 30mins on a treadmil. Highest incline there is! Do a slow pace though, starting at 2.5mph and work your way up to 4 or more. Its hard but works! Trust me!.
For the strenght training part: (Do all of these 3 times a week)
-Lunges are the best work out for your legs.
-Maybe a yoga or pilates video??? Great for toning and shaping those muscles. (if you do this, no need for other strengh training exercises)
-Work out your arms with dumbells, but dont over do it.
-Get a balance ball(yoga ball) and do sit ups to strengthen your midsection.
For the diet part:
-Try to eat almost no prepackaged foods, sugars, refined foods, and vegetable oils.
-Eat plenty of beans, whole grain rice, veggies, fresh fruits, and a little bit of nuts.
-When you go to the store, buy all of your ingredients fresh!
You shouldnt totally restrict yourself from certain foods though, because then you are bound to splurge. You should only eat deserts in small portions once to twice a week. If you follow this, then you should lose all the weight and more and look great! Theres a really good diet/lifestyle called the RAVE diet. It is very natural and healthy.
NO Refined foods (refined sugars, refined flours, refined grains)
NO Animal products
NO Vegetable oils
NO Exceptions

I’m very confused as to finding health insurance since I’ll be self employed soon. Can anyone suggest a health carrier that is easy to get insured and are reliable? Thank you.
I'm really not interested in going online, as have been warned. And I have been online and don't need a million calls wanting my business. Thanks, but no thanks. I am interested in details and sure information. Like seeing an agent.
A lot depends on your personal situation and what state you live in.
Generally though you will want to stick with a large and trustworthy company like a United Healthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc.
Shop around and compare quotes from at least 3 companies to find the best rate. Here is some more info on some thing you should know when looking for self employed health insurance:

I'm interested in doing personal fitness. I figure I'd set my bar at the best of the best. I've looked at the Marine recruitment site and they offer not even a hint of what sort of fitness you'd need to be in.
Thanks for commenting.
By all means, share whatever fitness standards you know. Anything is better than not knowing anything.
just to let you know if you are looking to set your physical fitness at the best of the best you arent going to find that in your average marine there are parts that have way harder physical fitness standards so you might want to look into those pt standards
Navy Seals
Army Special Forces
Delta Force
Army Rangers
people liek that

The X-iser mini stepper is an advanced design mini stepper that allows you to get intense bursts of exercise that will improve your fitness using it only 4-12 minutes a day. Based on the new exercise science of interval training, this extremely durable, American made mini stepper is portable anywhere and it weighs only 14 pounds.
This is a video review of the X-iser mini stepper, showing how it is used and the benefits of each exercise.
The X-iser Mini Stepper is small and portable, and it weighs only 14 pounds, taking up about 2 square feet, the X-iser can be used anywhere in a minimum amount of space. Keep it anywhere. Take it with you in your car to warm up before golfing or hiking.
It is the one essential piece of home gym equipment that saves huge amounts of space when compared to bulky exercise bikes, treadmills, or ellipticals.
There is no impact and no injuries. The X-iser simulates running without the impact. It is good for knees, ankles, hips and back.
The X-iser is good for improving your balance
It is ideal for building core strength. The X-iser has been medically proven to improve your lower body strength with the minimal investment of time.
This machine allows you to repliacte sprinting anywhere and at any time. There is no need to leave your home or office.
The X-iser Mini Stepper is made in America using thick aircraft aluminum alloy and stainless steel, and it is built to last a lifetime. Don’t buy a cheap Chinese-made stepper that is made of plastic, leaks hydraulic fluid all over the floor, and that has bad balance characteristics that can cause them to flip over during use. Also compare the Xiser’s full 5-year warranty to the short 30 day warranties for the Chinese products.
